You decide, when the time is right
Social freezing – freezing unfertilised eggs – gives you the freedom to wait to have children without giving up the possibility of becoming a mother later in life.
Perhaps you haven't met the right partner yet, are busy with your career, education or other goals, or maybe you're just not ready to start a family right now.
Whatever the reason, social freezing gives you peace of mind knowing that you are making an active choice for your future.
Why timing is important
Women's fertility gradually declines with age – both the number and quality of eggs decrease, and after the age of 35, this happens more rapidly.
Therefore, it is recommended that you consider egg freezing while you are between the ages of 25 and 35, when your eggs are usually of the highest quality.
The younger your eggs are, the better your chances are of using them successfully later on.
This is how Social Freezing works
- Fertility screening
We always start with a consultation and an assessment of your fertility. Your egg reserve is assessed by ultrasound scan and may be supplemented by an AMH measurement
-
Stimulation and egg retrieval
You will receive a short course of hormone treatment to stimulate your ovaries to mature more eggs. The eggs are retrieved using a short, gentle procedure.
-
Freezing and storage
Your unfertilised eggs are vitrified (quick-frozen) and stored at -196 °C until you wish to use them.
According to Danish law, eggs may be stored until you reach the age of 46.
How many eggs should be frozen?
To increase the chances of pregnancy later in lift, it is typically recommended to freeze around 20 unfertilised eggs.
This usually requires 2–3 egg retrievals, as not all eggs survive thawing and fertilisation.
