IVF is short for In Vitro Fertilization and is also called artificial insemination.
Freya Fertility is offering IVF- and ICSI-treatments for couples, lesbian couples, and singles. The clinic is located in Herning, in the heart of Jutland near Silkeborg and Holstebro, and we have customers from Jutland, Funen, Germany, Norway and Sweden.
IVF-treatment is used, amongst other things if:

Women identified with blocked fallopian tubes
- Men identified with low or poor sperm count

Couples with unexplained childlessness, who have not obtained pregnancy by insemination treatment

Women with severe endometriosis
In IVF or ICSI treatment we use hormonestimulation, so that more oocytes can be retrieved from the ovaries.
What is IVF-treatment?
IVF-treatment involves that mature oocytes being aspirated from the ovaries and fertilised in the laboratory, with semen from the male or from a donor. After fertilisation, the embryos are being cultured in an EmbryoScope. After 2-5 days the best embryo/blastocyst is transferred to the cavity of the uterus to implant in the endometrium, developing to a fetus – as it would have done, if normally conceived.
In generel we recommend that the embryo is transferred 5 days after the oocyte retrieval. In this stage the embryo is called a blastocyst. Sometimes it can be necessary to transfer the embryo 2 or 3 days after oocyte retrieval, but you will receive more information about that at the clinic.
What is ICSI-treatment
ICSI is short for Intra Cytoplasmatic Sperm Injection.
ICSI is used if the sperm count is very low, or if none or only a few oocytes were fertilized in an earlier IVF-treatment. ICSI-treatment injects a single sperm into each of the retrieved oocytes. Apart from this procedure, the ICSI-treatment is no different from the IVF-procedure.
With both ICSI- and IVF-treatments, donor semen can be used.
