Pregnancy test

Waiting for the result of the pregnancy test can be long and hard. You are always welcome to give us a call, if you have any questions or concerns along the way. Our team is ready to support you.

To confirm whether you are pregnant or not, a blood sample must be collected, to show if your blood is containing the pregnancy hormone hCG. A blood test is more accurate than a urine test.

​It is important that a pregnancy test is done, even if you have started bleeding.

​

You can choose to be tested in the clinic or at your own doctor’s clinic. If the test is done by your own doctor, you must inform us about the result of the test.

​

Sometimes it can be necessary to repeat the test, so we can follow the development of the pregnancy.

​

Too low an increase of s-hCG in the blood can mean, that an abortion is taking place or that the pregnancy is extra uterine.

​

If the pregnancy test is positive, you will get an appointment for a pregnancy scan.

If the pregnancy test is negative

Unfortunately, we only know little about, why a pregnancy is not obtained. Whether you have tried to become pregnant for a short or a long period of time, it can be associated with a lot of grief, disappointment and a sense of powerlessness, if the pregnancy test is negative, and you bleeding starts.

You are always welcome to call and make an appointment for a conversation with one of us.

It is very individually, when you feel ready to start a new treatment, and you will discuss with the fertility doctor, what is best for you.  Take as long a break as you need. It is often necessary with “a break” for a month between two treatments.
